Ha salido Linux ZorinOS 6 Lite con escritorio LXDE. Lo he instalado en máquina virtual y funciona perféctamente.

Como sus hermanos anteriores tiene ya instalado Remastersys, por lo que con él se puede crear la propia distro, añadiendo los programas deseados y haciendo funcionar Remastersys en modo dist. Está basado en Ubuntu 11.10 (lleva un kernel 3.0.16) y el escritorio Lite es LXDE.

Te recomiendo probarlo en modo live, grabando un CD con la imagen ISO descargada y arrancando el ordenador con él, o en máquina virtual (como VirtualBox), sin instalar nada, antes de decidir si instalarlo en el disco duro.
